Life Transitions
Change is inevitable. Sometimes it is predictable; children grow and seasons change. Anticipated change gives us time to prepare. Unexpected change is disorienting. Any way it shows up, change does not need our permission, and we are not as powerful as we think we are to resist or control it.
No matter the event, change brings shifts in daily routines, self-perception, and social roles. And it comes with so many emotions - anxiety, resentment, grief, joy, excitement, uncertainty.
We can’t escape it; it is a natural part of the human experience. Events of change and transition include:
education and work (starting a new school or job, unemployment or job loss, retirement)
relationships and family (marriage, divorce, dating, empty nesting, shifting friendships, death and loss)
health and physical status (illness, injury, menopause, mental health, recovery)
living situations (going to college, moving to a new city, buying a home, challenging roommates)
identity (gender or sexual, cultural, new parents)
Change requires nuanced coping strategies while adjusting to a new “normal”. I offer support and strategies to help you manage the emotional and practical aspects of significant life changes. My approach is personalized for you, blending options like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based practices, self-compassion, emotional regulation, and acknowledging our strengths.
